Cotton Cuts

I had the wonderful opportunity of working with a company called Cotton Cuts.  As a member you receive monthly a variety of fabrics chosen specifically for you.  You answer a few questions and they surprise you with a custom created bundle.  You receive either 12 fat quarters or 20 fat eighths, your choice.  You can change your fabric preferences at any time.  You get to choose a pattern from their designer of the month and you also get two collectible block of the month pattern cards.  Each box has something extra as a thank you.  Doesn't this sound wonderful?  It is!

In addition, Cotton Cuts is on a mission to create jobs and have partnered with a local workshop that provides dignified employment opportunities to the intellectually challenged and to those with other disabilities.

I created a quilt with eight of the fabrics they sent me.  I paired it with "Weewander", by Sarahjane Studios, in "With the Birds".  What I love about these fabrics is that some of them are ones I would not have chosen on my own but, after receiving them, absolutely love.  This allows me to play with fabric and look at texture and pattern in a different way.  It was so fun!  I used the "Baby Blocks" pattern from the book, "Sweet Celebrations" compiled by Lissa Alexander.  The quilt measures 37.5 x 44.5.  It is quilted with soft wavy lines in pink on the front and white on the back.

Because Cotton Cuts was kind enough to send me a box to try, I am going to pay it forward and give this quilt to one of you!  I am having a giveaway on Instagram (IG name is sewnwithgrace)  and all you need to do to enter is visit me there and leave a comment on the post.  I will choose a winner by random number generator on Wednesday, December 7.

Time For A GIVEAWAY!

The best way to motivate yourself to clean your sewing room is to show a picture of the mess on your blog!  I spent a whole day getting organized and going through all my fabric and taking stock of all the UFO's, etc.  I still have to work on the closet, but I'm pleased with how much I got done.  In celebration of organization I've decided to give away the entire bundle of fabric in the top picture. About 95 percent of it is Denyse Schmidt fabric from her various lines including some Flea Market Fancy.  The pieces range from fat quarters to long strips to little pieces.  What a fantastic quilt this would make.  All you have to do to enter is be a follower of my blog and leave me a comment telling me what you're currently working on.  My international friends are welcome also.  I will leave the giveaway open until Thursday at midnight and announce the winner on Friday, Feb. 21.  Have a great day!

October Giveaway

It's a lovely fall day today here in southwest Michigan.  The air is crisp and the colors of the trees are breathtaking.  This past weekend we celebrated our last two weddings at Friendship Farm.  Both weddings were beautiful, Christ-centered events and it was a wonderful way to close our wedding journey.  The farm is for sale and the business is officially closed.  I'm excited to see what the Lord has in store for me now.  After such a special weekend, I knew I needed an extra special giveaway.

One Winner Will Receive

The book, "Scrap-Basket Surprises" by Kim Brackett
One Marriage Certificate Panel - "Honeymoon Cottage" by Gloria Parsons
for Blue Hill Fabrics
Six pieces of fabric measuring at least one yard each

Long Distance Hug

I found a box on my porch the other day from my dear friend, Trish.  She sent me the most amazing afghan that she crocheted herself.  After wiping the tears from my cheeks, I promptly wrapped myself up in it.  I've been struggling with some changes in my life regarding the move and she wanted to send a tangible expression of love, concern and comfort.  What makes this even more amazing is that we have not met in person.  Our friendship was found through Jesus and blogging.  I have many friends I have met that way.  It is one of the true blessings of blogging.  Because I am a crafty soul, I know how long this took and the enormity of the gift.  I do not take this for granted (her stitches are exquisite, by the way).  The other day I found my 21 year old son wrapped in it, asleep in the chair.  He was leaving for college the next day.  It brought comfort to another.  Thank you so much Trish!

I bought a new phone and was playing around with a photo application.  This is me getting ready to go out to dinner with my husband.  The Iphone is amazing and much easier than I imagined!

June Giveaway Winner

The winner of the June Patriotic Quilt Kit is
Lisa Marie
She left this comment ~

"My Dad's younger sister usually has a big July 4th picnic
which is like a mini family reunion.  This year, though,
with the 4th falling on a Wednesday, it's not happening
since many people have to travel long distances and
can't do it with just one day off.  Bummer.  Since I'll be
staying home, I'd love to sew this quilt to celebrate!"

I have sent you an email, Lisa Marie.
I wish you a very happy 4th of July sewing celebration!

Giveaway Winner

The winner of this months giveaway is Karen at Quilting, Losing and Tea!  Congratulations, Karen, I have sent you an email.  Happy Sewing!

I have been working on the new window display at the cafe this week.  I've gone with a vintage birthday party theme.  I had a lot of fun finding vintage birthday cards on line and mounting them on card stock.

I used my crinoline dishes in pink and aqua.  Each teacup is filled with a knitted cupcake.  The vintage paper birthday cake came from Etsy.  The yellow dress is part of my collection of vintage dresses.

Such a happy, cheerful place to visit.  I wish you all could come for lunch!

Blessings,
