Stash Building
The past few days I have been in Chicago for a little getaway with my daughter. She is on spring break and while I wish we could've gone somewhere to get out of the cold, a change of scenery is equally as refreshing. I make it a habit to go to the Loopy Ewe when I'm there to do a little yarn shopping. The bottom yarn has a sparkle to it that doesn't show in the photo. I came home to find my order from Alanna at MixFabrics on etsy. With the exception of the Little Red Riding Hood, this was her weekend special bundle for $10.00. What a bargain! I'm going to try to stay out of the snow today and spend some time dreaming about spring with Country Living. Have a great Monday!

Time For A GIVEAWAY!
The best way to motivate yourself to clean your sewing room is to show a picture of the mess on your blog! I spent a whole day getting organized and going through all my fabric and taking stock of all the UFO's, etc. I still have to work on the closet, but I'm pleased with how much I got done. In celebration of organization I've decided to give away the entire bundle of fabric in the top picture. About 95 percent of it is Denyse Schmidt fabric from her various lines including some Flea Market Fancy. The pieces range from fat quarters to long strips to little pieces. What a fantastic quilt this would make. All you have to do to enter is be a follower of my blog and leave me a comment telling me what you're currently working on. My international friends are welcome also. I will leave the giveaway open until Thursday at midnight and announce the winner on Friday, Feb. 21. Have a great day!

Be My Valentine
I remember fondly how much I loved Valentine's Day as a child. I loved decorating a box. Often that was more fun than getting the Valentine's. I wish I had saved every single one I received as a child. They would be "vintage" now. I miss the days when the cards were so stinking cute. I also miss when the kids were little and we made Valentines together for their friends. The school parties were always so crazy but oh how fast it went by. I did send cute little Valentines to my 23 and 19 year old. They know Mom will never change. I got out my one Valentine's quilt that I made a very long time ago. It is not my colors anymore but it certainly reminds me of how far I've come as a quilter. I have had the adorable Pam Kitty Valentine's fabric for a while now and plan on making a new quilt that goes with my current style. Don't you just love everything, Pam Kitty Morning? Have a wonderful day of friendship and love. Blessings!

Log Cabin Block
Yesterday one of my oldest, dearest friends came for a visit. Amy and I were college roomies and have stayed very close all through the years. She brought me these beautiful flowers. I cannot tell you how the flowers and Amy lifted my spirits. I love roses and hydrangeas. When we moved to our house in June one of the first things we did was plant roses and hydrangeas. The flowers are a wonderful reminder that spring, though buried under several inches of snow, is not too far away. Today I completed my log cabin block for Clara. We are part of Donna's Sew Sweet Bee. I loved making this as it is one of my favorite blocks. Amy was lovingly teasing me about my sewing room and the explosion of fabric and books. She encouraged me to show you a picture, so here it is in it's messy state. Notice the cute bins stacked for organizing but I haven't filled them. So much to sew...so little time. Blessings!

For Friday
I don't know about you, but to me, time is flying by. Where has the week gone? I have wanted to spend more time on my blog this week but the sewing I want to show you is for someone and they read my blog. Instead I will show you a wonderful package of fabric I received all the way from Singapore yesterday. Etsy is such a wonderful site. I was able to purchase fabric that is not available anymore that I have wanted for a long time. Such beautiful soft colors and characters. I'm all caught up with the clues for the knit-along. I am having such a fun time with it. It is challenging, but in a good way (or so I tell myself when I'm ripping out rows). I love how my Bible reading went with the project I am working on. What a wonderful way to visualize how the garments might have looked. We have some frigid temps here and more snow is expected. I came across this cartoon on pinterest that I had to share with you. My daughter was just remarking how awfully cold her face gets while walking across campus. I hope she laughed as much as I did. Have a wonderful Friday!

Craving Color
Good morning! I have had a whirlwind of a few days visiting friends and attending the wedding of the daughter of some dear friends of mine. Saturday happened to be one of the worst snowy days of the season but many of us braved the elements to attend a most elegant and Christ-centered event. I had gone in early to spend time with friends and my husband was getting the train to come in to join me. As he was waiting at the station, the train hit a car at the stop before his. Understandably, the train was delayed several hours and he could not attend. As beautiful as the snow is, it is equally as dangerous. I'm ready for spring. The new issue of American Patchwork and Quilting was waiting for me when I got home and I opened to find this lovely quilt in all it's festive colors. It goes well with the flowers I purchased and the yarn just delivered from Purl Soho. You can tell this northern girl is craving color and warm weather from that first picture! I also couldn't resist a layer cake of Downton Abbey fabric and yardage of the cream. I knew if I didn't get some it would be gone and I'd be mad at myself. I hope you are having a lovely start to your week. Blessings!
Joyfully,
