A Little Stitching~

I've been playing in my sewing room for the past couple of days.  So much of what I make is either commissioned or gifts for someone.  This is a gift so I can only give you a peak.  There's always a quilting or knitting project going on here even though it doesn't appear that way.

A special employer someone (tee hee) has a birthday coming up and shared with me their love of paper dolls.  I was able to still find some of this Aunt Lindy fabric that I have seen in the past.  I'll share the rest when it's done.

My darling daughter left me this message on my cutting table.  Now I have to use a different pincushion since I won't be altering this one.  The sweet pincushion was made by my sweet friend, Trish.

Semi-homemade

Last night I hosted a meeting for an event that our church will be doing in December.  I needed a dessert and was hard pressed for time.  Something from scratch just wasn't going to happen.

I remembered that I had this Whoopie Pie Mix in the pantry for such an occasion.  A little milk, butter and egg and I was good to go.  If you see this in a store, pick it up, it was delicious!  Cute packaging never hurt either!

Birthday Wishes

My baby girl is 17 today.  Oh my, I.am.old.  Here she is at her special guy's soccer game.  So glad I was able to be there that day.  This one here, she's a feisty one.  Sometimes I'm not so sure that we will survive each other and most days she has me laughing till I cry.  Love her all the time!  Happy Birthday, Maddie!

Apple Cozies

Last night I was watching t.v. and decided I needed a little something to do with my hands.  I remembered that I had purchased a magazine with the cutest apple cozies on the cover and went in search of it.

I think that this would make wonderful place cards for a dinner.  You could attach a ribbon to the stem with your guests name on it.  It would be a fun gift for a child to take to a teacher.  It took me less than an hour from start to finish.  I'll be tucking this pattern into my purse for when I need a little project on-the-go.  It makes me smile whenever I look at it!

Sewing Christmas

Welcome to our ninth installment of "Sewing Christmas".  By now, for everyone who has been following along, you should have a nice little stash of gifts.  Doesn't it feel good to head in to the Christmas season with some gifts already prepared?

This oven mitt and kitchen towel may just end up in my stocking this year.  The colors match my kitchen perfectly.  For the towel I drew the snowman, freehand, using the fabric as my guide and embroidered it with a running stitch.

I Think I Can...

When I got in the car this morning to take Maddie to school, the thermometer read 41 degrees.  Oh.my.word.  Fall is upon us here in Michigan.

The cold didn't snap me out of my mood today.  I want to go back to bed and pull up the covers.  I want to sew, I need to sew...but I have to meet with a bride at noon who's dropping off supplies for her wedding this weekend.  The tent is going up as I type this.

How stinkin' cute is that?

I'm officially burnt out.  A big meeting tonight, a dinner tomorrow and one more wedding this weekend and then things will slow down drastically.  My mind today is struggling with all the details.  Is that a light I see at the end of the tunnel?  Nope.

Even the fun and the good can be exhausting, but the sun is bright and the sky is blue and I'm thankful for a chilly day to wear a soft sweater.  A young girl is getting ready to say "I do" and I know her excitement will be contagious.  Have a wonderful day, dear blogging friends!

A Sunday Picnic

Sunday was a special day at the farm.  My husband hosted a family picnic for the baseball team that he coaches.  These boys are nine and ten years old and some of them had not been born when 911 occurred.

It was so fun to surprise the families with a candy bar, a cotton candy machine, cupcakes and delicious food.  We had games for the kids so that the parents could meet and talk about the coming season.

For me, my favorite part was my husband (in the yellow) teaching the children about 911 and then sharing a prayer that Franklin Bell Graham gave the day after 911.  He loves his players and I enjoy watching him teach and grow them in ways that will shape them long after the glove and bat are put away.

Wedding Day

It was a very busy weekend, but everything got done and a happy couple began their new life as husband and wife.

It rained off and on all day.  Right before the ceremony a large black cloud formed over the barn and I held my breath, just waiting.

But the rain held long enough to finish the ceremony.  Guests entered the barn for refreshments and appetizers.

This little guy was the most excited ring-bearer to date.  He marched up the aisle with a broad grin and determined stride.  What a cutie-pie!

This is the last shot I took before my camera died.  In all the preparations, I forgot to charge the battery.  Alas, no picture of the groom to share.  I can assure you he was standing at the other end of the aisle, with a wide grin on his face!
