Picture of the garden last July

Friends,
Today starts my daughter's spring break.
I am taking a few days off from blogging

Be back later next week.

Fabric Eggs

While I was out visiting blogs, I came across this tutorial on Retro Mama for fabric eggs.  Aren't they adorable?  Think of all the eggs that you could make from scraps!  Maybe I should look for a fabric chicken as well?  Enjoy!

Pretty Ruffles~

Whenever I put a different vintage dress on my dress form I always try to imagine the person that owned it and what type of event they wore it to.  This one says wedding to me, or Easter, or a spring dance.

I wish that they still made dresses like this.  I do miss all the femininity of years past.  When I see my teenage daughter pull on her sweatshirt and jeans and head off to school, I remember the dress code I had at my highschool and think perhaps it wasn't so bad afterall.  Blessings!

Sunday Scripture

"No one is like you, O Lord;
you are great,
and your name is mighty in power.
Who should not revere you,
O King of the nations?
This is your due.
Among all the wise men of the nations
and in all their kingdoms,
there is no one like you."

Jeremiah 10:6&7

Baby Love

One more cutie patootie owlie sack done done as a custom order for a dear friend to give as a gift.  Oh, I love knitting this.  I used the most scrumptous baby alpacha yarn and sweet embroidery for the faces.  I loved how it turned out.  The pattern can be found here.

A Tisket, A Tasket

I purchased an Easter basket the other day when I was at JoAnn Fabrics.  The wonderful blue color caught my eye.  When I got home I noticed the liner was faded on one side from the sun.  Oh, I can fix that, I said to myself.

After looking at many fabrics I came to the conclusion that I was going to have to cut into my much loved stash of Lecien, "Flower Sugar".  I really had to talk myself into it.  Then I had a fabric ephiphany.

I have saved this stack of fabric for over a year now and refused to cut into it until I had just the "right" project.  So needless to say, it was buried with the rest of the fabric in my cabinet and I wasn't enjoying any of it.  At the rate I am going with projects, it could be quite some time before I find just the "right" project to make with it.  A few little pieces was all it took to make the liner.  I still have plenty left.  I urge you today to use  your favortie fabrics, isn't that what they were purchased for in the first place?  Blessings!

On the Porch

I took some time over the weekend to clean my three season porch.  It's still a bit too cold to sit out there, but at least when I look out the slider I see the hope of spring.

Last night we had a winter storm warning for freezing rain and then I heard the loudest clap of thunder I have ever experienced (louder than when my house got struck by lightening when I was a child).  The power flickered and the whole house shook.  I was waiting for the sound of trees falling as our yard has many.  But all was well!

I know that for me, I enjoy spring so much more when the winter has been long and harsh.  It is so fitting that Easter arrives in all it's beauty on the heels of winter.  Such a picture of the death and resurrection of our Lord.

I'm praying for some sunshine today.  I've decided that if the sun doesn't show itself I'm going to the nearest florist and diving into the flowers.  I need color!

Chocolate Bunnies

Easter is just around the corner.  I had been scolding myself for not making a spring quilt to hang.  My Mom showed me this beautiful quilt she had just finished and then said casually, "do you want it?"  Hmm...

Are you kidding me?  Of course I want it!!  The pattern is called, "Rabbits Prefer Chocolate" by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs.   My Mom did a great job of piecing and applique.  The quilter really went to town on this one.

Such a treasure!  I had it up on the wall in about thirty seconds.  Didn't want to give her a chance to change her mind (insert smiley face).

The skies are so grey and dreary today.  It's hard to believe at times that spring is coming.  I'll have these little bunnies to remind me of the real ones I will be seeing soon.  Blessings!

Sewing Christmas

Today find's us at our third installment of "Sewing Christmas" our goal of making Christmas gifts each month.  This month's creations come to us by the very talented hands of my Mom, Helen.

I had asked my Mom, at Christmas, if she would make some of her beautiful felt ornaments that could be tucked away for gifts.  She showed up on Friday with my Dad and some wonderful treasures.

My Mom loves to cross stitch and has taken up quilting in recent years.  I have always loved her ornaments and have enjoyed them since I was small.

The felt kits are becoming harder and harder to find, making me cherish the pieces that she has created throughout the years.

This little cupcake looks good enough to eat!  If you have a Christmas gift idea to share, please join me through the link below.  Blessings!

Sunday Scripture

"What shall we say the kingdom of God is like,
or what parable shall we use to describe it?
It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest
seed you plant in the ground.  Yet when
planted it grows and becomes the largest of
all garden plants, with such big branches
that the birds of the air can perch in its shade."

Mark 4:30-34
