  9. Yes, I am a follower, but although we recognise the history of 4th July, it isn't a long weekend, or 'party mode' Down Under, as we tend to celebrate Australia Day in January, so please don't accept this as an entry, I just wanted to say thank you for such a lovely blog, and post :) Happy crafting, Jenny

  10. Hi Renee yes we have a traditional BBQ with one of the members of my family hostessing it but no matter who is the hostess, I always make the bananna, blueberry and strawberry pudding (just like bananna pudding but with a few extras) it is the only time I make it and we look forward to it...then we all go to the lake and watch the fireworks. I hope you have a wonderful 4th....yes I am a follower...and would love to win since I have the perfect place for this quilt....thank you

  12. My Dad's younger sister usually has a big July 4th picnic which is like a mini family reunion. This year though, with the 4th falling on a Wednesday, it's not happening since many people have to travel long distances and can't do it with just one day off. Bummer. Since I'll be staying home, I'd love to sew this quilt to celebrate!

  13. Love the quilt top! As I have two sons in the Army, 4th of July and the fight for freedom for our country is near and dear to my heart. We enjoy a local parade and community gathering on the 4th. Thanks for a chance.

  15. Lovely kit! My son is 5 and he wasn't so sure about the loud fireworks at the local park when we took him a couple of years ago. However, he loves sparklers and Daddy loves to do some fireworks at home (with a bucket of water handy!).

Growing up, every other year we would have fireworks at my grandma's lake cabin... Fireworks at a lake is always so fun, as you are able to see everyone else's fireworks around the lake, too!

  31. We were camping in Yosemite one year on the fourth of July so I had taken red, white, and blue crepe paper for the grandkids and their friends to decorate their bicycles. My son carried a small boom box playing the "Stars and Stripes for Ever" and soon we had a parade marching through the campground and waving flags. People would line up and give applause. That is a great memory for me! I love your blog and am a faithful follower. Thanks so much for this lovely giveaway.

  34. This might be my favorite giveaway ever because of my love for red, white and blue. The most adorable ribbon box I have ever seen too.
I could write a book about our 4th traditions which have changed throughout the years, from watching them from a houseboat on Lake Shasta for several years to now when we just sit in our lawn chairs one the curb and watch the grands do snakes and sparklers.
But my all time favorite is the years we lived in Tehachapi and had Little League all star games all day, a picnic in the park and then off to the HS field with our blankets and chairs and literally watch the fireworks go off above our heads. I always took Chocolate Chip cookies and Kool-Aid. (oh my, guess I didn't know then what they know now about sugar and kids, huh?
Your giveaways are the best and I know whoever wins will love this one. Thanks, Renee.

  40. Red White and blue.....oh what fun! My favorite colors.
We still go every year to the VFW parking lot and watch the fireworks, no kids at home anymore but we always manage to get a group together! I think I was always more excited than the kids anyway!
I have had 2 children serve our country and it holds a special meaning for us!

  41. How cute! and appropriate for the upcoming holiday.
We don't have any 4th of July traditions yet, but we just moved to a rural community and they do fireworks over one of the local farmer's pond. We're planning on going out and watching them this year. I haven't seen fireworks in at least 7 years.

  42. Most years we go to visit the family cottage. There is a parade around the cottages for which children decorate their bikes and parents decorate their children's strollers. Afterwards we all meet at the flagpole for patriotic songs and the Pledge of Allegiance.

  43. Hmm we don't celebrate 4th of July. Love to win the giveaway :)

  44. Thank you for your generous giveaway, Renee! Oh, the patriotic fabrics, pattern and red, white and blue accents are so lovely!

We love picnicking with friends...eating lots of watermelon, hotdogs, homemade ice cream and strawberry shortcake. We all eagely await nightfall for the annual fireworks in our little town. My husband is a retired Naval Officer, our son is a former US Marine. We still get tears in our eyes when we hear the National Anthem.
God has so richly blessed our nation!
    Blessings,

  60. Being an Army Mom has made me ultra aware of anything red, white and blue. The items in your giveaway are wonderful!

Since many 4 of July's see us with a son deployed, we try to do something that cheers us all up and just says America is a wonderful country to live in. We go to the local ball game and have hot dogs, sing the national anthem with pride and watch the fireworks after! The only thing we seem to forget each year is apple pie. I"ll have to put that on my list for this year! Thank you for doing this giveaway and keep up the wonderful work that you do. Love your blog! -Susan

Traditions change...for the past several years we are included with neighbors whose children are the same age as DH and myself..and our children have grown up together--now they all have children...It is four generations of family who have adopted us as part of their family. In the evening we all watch as fireworks are shot over the lake at the beach.
