I wanted to share with you a few photos from the baby shower luncheon on Sunday. It went very well. We had 19 guests. Grandpa-to-be started the event by pinning a beautiful white orchid on his daughter and Mommy-to-be.
We decorated in yellow's and blue's with a splash of purple from the Iris. We were in the Grandparents 170 yr. old farm house and the decorations meshed seamlessly with the home.
We used miss-matched floral china of mine as well as the blue owl pitchers from my collection. Various table runners added color and texture to the white tablecloths.
The shower had a definite vintage-romantic quality about it. The fresh flowers really brought it all together.
The food was provided by my friend's restaurant. Not only does she and her husband live in this 170 yr. old home and host weddings and events on the property, but they own a cafe and bakery as well.
The flower pins were a big hit as a party favor and the three littlest guests received talking farm puzzles as their favor.
Little touches go along way when planning an event. Making the food a part of the decorations is not hard when you use pretty colors of frosting set on a chunky white tray.
Even though the weather was cold and grey outside, laughter, smiles and the cutest baby gifts ever kept the inside bright and cheery!
The older I get, the more I enjoy these types of events. It always takes you back to your own baby showers and the babies you once held in your arms that are now grown. It's so bittersweet.
With the overwhelming positive response of my handmade invitation, I may never use a store bought one again. Showers of blessings today!
