Making Pretty

I started thinking about all the things we do everyday, the ordinary, routine things like making dinner.  Don't you wonder, at times, how many meals your hands have made in your lifetime?  I decided that I would try and make some of my ordinary things pretty.  As frivolous as it sounds, if I have to use it everyday why not make it pretty?

I purchased some Cath Kidston labels from Amazon and some spice jars from World Market and got to work.  It also provided me the opportunity to get rid of a lot of spices that I have had hanging around for a couple of years (that can't be good!).

I even thought the top of the jars needed prettying up a bit.  I'll have to purchase a few more jars but I really like how they came out.

The roses survived all the rain and I thought you might enjoy seeing them.  It's hard to believe that two years ago this little plant was handed to me by my father-in-law in a little McDonald's coffee cup.  I didn't think it would survive, and I am so blessed by it now.

The hollyhocks are starting to open and will be the first to greet the guests at the shower on Saturday.  I can't wait to show you pictures of everything I've been working on for the shower.  Have a lovely day!

Hugs,

  2. I am so glad you posted those cute spice jars and labels. I just showed my husband a wall last night that I wanted him to build a spice rack on. Now I know how to make my spices look pretty on that rack. Old World Market...here I come. Great idea, Renee.

  6. Renee, I love the idea of making every day things pretty_i'm SO WITH YOU on this. And yours are very darling. I visit your site whenever I want to get inspired by pretty.
Along those lines, I did this recently with my clothes closet. I hung pictures on the wall, put a vase of flowers in the corner, and a little colorful pinwheel in a glass jar on the shelf. Now opening my closet makes me smile.
Next, under my bathroom sink! :)

  10. How pretty - I went through my spice shelf a few weeks ago, but now I'm going to have the make pretty labels for everything :0)

By the way, I once heard Emeril say that spices shouldn't be on the shelf longer than a year.
