Christmas All Through The House

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, as the song goes.  The presents are bought, the menu's are planned, some cookies to bake.  My son and daughter will be home in a couple of days.  I'm so looking forward to special times with family and friends, celebrating our Savior's birth with the Christmas Eve service at church and just the blessed gladness of being all together.  We have had plenty of snow so a white Christmas is guaranteed.  I hope you are enjoying this precious time with your loved ones.  With every passing year I'm reminded more and more that it's not about the presents under the tree, but the people around it, with Jesus Christ as our beloved King!  Merry Christmas!

Holiday Wishes Blog Hop

It is my turn on the Fatquarter Shops month-long celebration of Holiday Wishes, a beautiful new book by Sherri Falls.  The book showcases twelve Christmas projects that can be adapted to other holidays based on the fabrics you choose.  I chose to make the Midnight Clear quilt which is featured on the cover.

I couldn't pass up an opportunity to showcase the beautiful Flower Sugar Holiday fabric line by Lecien.  The combination of greens, aqua and red give this quilt a playful and non-traditional Christmas vibe.  I love the backing fabric complete with roses and poinsettia. The quilting is fun Christmas cookie shapes, perfect for this fabric.

Be sure to head on over to the Fatquarter Shops blog, the Jolly Jabber, to check out the other bloggers and their creations.

Cozy Cottage Calendar Celebration!

Today I'm excited to be part of a group of bloggers, celebrating Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet, new limited edition calendar.   This twelve month calendar features beautiful photos of Lori's gorgeous home and includes her pattern for a house block in two sizes, plus a mini quilt and pillow.

I used the eight inch block to make her Cozy Cottage pillow.  Christmas has been on my mind so I decided to pull out some of my favorite Tilda fabrics for a Christmas Cottage pillow.  I couldn't stop there, I made the super cute four inch block into an ornament with Santa peering out the window!  As ever, Lori's instructions are clear and easy and make the whole process of creating so fun!

The Fatquarter Shop is hosting the celebration, go here for a list of participating bloggers and for a look at their fabulous creations.  While you're there, don't forget to purchase the calendar before they're sold out.  This would make a great present for the quilter in your life!

Slowing Down The Season

I hope this finds your heart full of happy moments from the last few days.  Our Christmas was very quiet this year but still special for us.  Our daughter had some surgery last week and is in a slow recovery stage.  I've spent most of my nights feeling like I have a newborn instead of a twenty year old.  I've gotten up every three hours to give pain meds and encouragement.  Some nights have found me in bed with her, holding her hand and staying all night.  I see progress everyday and know that in a couple of weeks she will be feeling more like herself.  We postponed all family gatherings until after Christmas so I spent the last couple days cooking and baking for our immediate family.  We watched movies and spent some great quality time together.  I don't know about you but I'm not ready for this season to be over yet.  I was on pinterest this morning and people are already pinning Valentine projects.  There is such a rush to move on to the next holiday, quickly forgetting this one. Well that's not for me.  The decorations will stay up awhile longer and the carols will still be playing. I will marvel in the birth of our Savior and enjoy the twinkling of lights from the tree.  I'm purposefully slowing the season down.  Life is fast enough on it's own and I'm not going to get swept up and miss out on these moments.  Have a wonderful and peace-filled weekend, enjoying each moment you've been given!

Merry Christmas!

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes,
and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."  Luke 2:7

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas House Part Two

I can hardly believe that Christmas is next week.  Just when I think I'm done with the shopping, I think of something else I forgot to pick up.  The weather here has been rainy and on the warm side and I love it!  We can skip snow altogether.  The house is all decked out and ready.  The beautiful green button tree is a gift I just received from my daughter's best friend Hannah.  She made it herself for me and I adore it.  Another cherished decoration I will love putting out every year.  I hope you are all having a great week!
