Tiny Stitches

I am always on the look out for pretty or quirky vintage linens.  Often times they sell for hardly anything.  They remind me of just how creative women through the ages have been.  Over the weekend I picked up this dainty tea towel at our barn sale.  I would say she falls into the quirky and a bit risque category.  She measures approximately four inches from the tip of her shoe to the tip of her ribboned hand.  A sheer hankie was used for her nightie.  I do not know what her top is stuffed with but it could be buttons made from the red fabric and then covered in the sheer hankie.  The applique and embroidery stitches are exquisite.  Part of my collection also includes the hankie with the baby. The bonnet and the dress attach to the little doll and the skirt forms the corner of the hankie.  Isn't it amazing?  I could use a lesson in patience from the hands that stitched these pieces!
