Cherry Fizz

Cherry Fizz by Barbara Jones of Quilt Soup

Something comes over me when I walk into a fabric shop.  I refer to it as a spiritual experience because, for me, that's what it closely resembles.  I do believe God has given me a gift of working with my hands and when they come in contact with fabric it feels like I'm at home.  I also believe that God expects me to use my money wisely and I have been on fabric lockdown for quite some time, only purchasing what is necessary to complete a project (with some extra's along the way - who are we kidding here!)  Yesterday I went to the fabric shop to get backing fabric for my log cabin quilt when I spotted these beauties right inside the door, then the dance began as well as the running commentary in my head.  "Keep walking to the backing fabric, don't look in that direction, stop running quilt patterns through your head, no it does not look like Cherry Limeade from Sonic, those are not "your" colors, don't touch it, don't pick it up."  I did very well until the kind lady behind the counter was cutting my backing fabric, then I made a mad dash for the bolts.  I justified my purchase by not buying all the colorways (why didn't I buy all the colorways?!).  What I love about a fabric shop is all the ladies that help you justify your purchases.  So I did it.  But oh, it does look like Cherry Limeade from Sonic!

  2. I would do just that same thing. Make it until they are cutting...my heart just pounding...and then I'd just HAVE to do it. Oy!!

  6. God also gave you eyes that see beauty in everyday things like fabrics and colors. Marvel in it! Praise him for it! Not everyone sees the beauty in a colorful bolt of fabric!

  7. I agree. I definitely think any creative is a spiritual experience. It really allows you to creative and give. And materials and quilting does that for me too :)
