Cherry Fizz by Barbara Jones of Quilt Soup
Something comes over me when I walk into a fabric shop. I refer to it as a spiritual experience because, for me, that's what it closely resembles. I do believe God has given me a gift of working with my hands and when they come in contact with fabric it feels like I'm at home. I also believe that God expects me to use my money wisely and I have been on fabric lockdown for quite some time, only purchasing what is necessary to complete a project (with some extra's along the way - who are we kidding here!) Yesterday I went to the fabric shop to get backing fabric for my log cabin quilt when I spotted these beauties right inside the door, then the dance began as well as the running commentary in my head. "Keep walking to the backing fabric, don't look in that direction, stop running quilt patterns through your head, no it does not look like Cherry Limeade from Sonic, those are not "your" colors, don't touch it, don't pick it up." I did very well until the kind lady behind the counter was cutting my backing fabric, then I made a mad dash for the bolts. I justified my purchase by not buying all the colorways (why didn't I buy all the colorways?!). What I love about a fabric shop is all the ladies that help you justify your purchases. So I did it. But oh, it does look like Cherry Limeade from Sonic!
The same thing happens when i read a blog that shows beautiful fabric. My mind starts thinking about what to make with it...What pattern do i have that this could be used for....If I Google it, what kind of deal can I find?ReplyDelete
I am seriously tempted this morning....
I would do just that same thing. Make it until they are cutting...my heart just pounding...and then I'd just HAVE to do it. Oy!!ReplyDelete
Oh goodness! We all do this. And this fabric looks so wonderful, I'm having a hard time not checking int it!ReplyDelete
Isn't it wonderful how those kind, sweet, ladies help you justify your purchase all the while they're cash registering is ringing loudly !!
I also try to justify my fabric purchases with the fact that cotton prices are going up so high that I must get what I can now as there will come a day when I won't buy it any longer. I think I am kidding myself too:)
It is lovely to see the things you come up with though.
Oh my sweet heavens Renee! Those are precious fabrics!! Love those darling cherries! I even jumped over to Fat Quarter Shop to see the others. Oh my, I am admiring yours from afar and can't wait to see what you create with them!! And I totally love Sonic's cherry limeades! I just tried one that was mixed with ice cream, last week. What a treat that was!! :o)ReplyDelete
Looking forward to talking with you!
I love love your fabrics...just can't wait to see what you do. Cherries are one of my all time favourite..they make everything sweeter. xoxox hugsReplyDelete
Isn't that the strangest thing! It's almost like the atmosphere is pulling you there and after all, you will undoubtedly be using it to make something for someone, right? he..he... Seriously cute fabric. I have been so good staying out but my strength is going fast. Enjoy!ReplyDelete
God also gave you eyes that see beauty in everyday things like fabrics and colors. Marvel in it! Praise him for it! Not everyone sees the beauty in a colorful bolt of fabric!ReplyDelete
I agree. I definitely think any creative is a spiritual experience. It really allows you to creative and give. And materials and quilting does that for me too :)ReplyDelete
Love that collection!ReplyDelete
Be still my heart! I love the cherries, and the green paisley and the gingham....love it all! Why didn't you get every color way?;>)ReplyDelete
oh my goodness the green paisley is wonderful!ReplyDelete
I would not have been able to resist those either. I am bogged down in Easter dresses, but can see lots of possibilites for those.ReplyDelete
Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours.
