Simple Pleasures

I love vintage linens.  Especially the whimsical embroidery given to common household items such as a dish towel.

I love that someone took the time to pretty up the things they used everyday.

It brings a smile to my face whenever I see it.  I love to hang one on the stove to be reminded of a simpler and gentler time.

I'm joining Dayle today for Simple Pleasures.

With joy,

  1. Vintage inens are some of my favorite things to look for at estate and yard sales. I can often pick them up for less than $1 and they add such personality to the kitchen. The ones you show are so adorable!

  2. Your little towels are just precious! How nice to be working in your kitchen, caring for your own sweet family, and seeing the beautiful hand work of someone who wanted to add charm to their own surroundings. :o)

  12. Love those precious towels. I recently found some of the iron-on patterns and bought some old-fashioned tea towels to go with them. One down. Six to go.

Thanks for linking up today. Always a pleasure to see you.

  14. Yes! These always remind me of my mother and my grandmother. I do have a few handed down from them. You are right - a reminder of a simpler and gentler time. Love your blog! Have always loved that autumn clematis and your story is delightful. And wonderful quilt. And, and, and...

  15. I have a lot of vintage linens - I try to find them with blue embroidery (yes, I do make things harder on myself!) but the hunt is the fun isn't it?
