To make or to buy?

I'm veering off the Christmas path for a moment to request your opinion. I found this beautiful shawl on Anthropologie's website. I just love it. Every time I see something I could buy or I could try to make, I start to wrestle with my thoughts which go something like this - "Just buy it, you don't have the time to make it and it will cost more to make than to buy, how many times have you passed something up because you said you could make it and then you don't?" And then - "Just make it, so what if it takes awhile, just think of the satisfaction of wearing something you've made..." The droning goes on in my head until I drive myself crazy. At times I call this "the creative curse". Often I take on another project when I'm not done with all the quilt/yarn kits I've collected. So help me, what do you think?

  1. It's lovely. The question right back to you would be which would give you the most pleasure?

    Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

  2. Oh, I'm feeling alittle overwhelmed with all the Christmas stuff, so I could take the easy way out and buy it, but why take the easy way out?

  3. I vote on making this one...it is sooo cool and when people tell you how cool it is, won't it be cool to say "I made it"? I think it would be cool. heehee

  5. Oh my goodness. I saw this same shawl on a lovely college student, around the holidays. It is gorgeous and I actually stopped her in the store and asked, "Did you make this?" :o) I had never seen something so beautiful. She giggled and said no, that she had bought it.
It is so feminine and pretty.
