Make a Wish Quilt

A very dear friend of mine began her journey with breast cancer a couple months ago.  She had a successful surgery and is in the midst of chemo.  She is a brave warrior with Jesus by her side as she walks this path.  What does a quilter do to comfort, we make quilts, don't we?  I desired for her to be wrapped in the loving arms of not only our Lord, but the special people near and far who love her so. With the help of her daughters I sent out fabric to be signed and the quilt is made up of 62 names of people who are dear to her heart.  The pattern is "Make a Wish" by Sweetwater.  It comes together quickly and was a joy to make.  In one of the spaces I included this verse from Isaiah 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." I am traveling today to give it to her.  I hope it blesses her as much as it has blessed me!

Joyfully,

  2. Renee you are a blessing to so many! I hope one day to be half as good at making things for others as you do. Thanks for inspiring me to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

  5. What a beautiful thing to do, Renee! My BFF (from 1st grade more than 60 years ago) recently learned she has lung cancer. Prognosis is good but her journey will be long and challenging. You have inspired me to make a quilt for her since we are parted by a geographical distance. God bless you and your friend! Linda

  6. A beautiful quilt. I really like the idea of having the signatures and the Bible verse is so appropriate. Did you hand embroider?
