Fabric & Flowers
Thank you for all your kind words on the before and after photos of the house. Things are coming along and I've been liking the progress. This is my first week of being without the kids. I find the whole empty nest thing like riding an emotional roller coaster. I can be chugging away and doing just fine and then a quick curve and I'll find myself choking up while driving the car, out of the blue it snuck up on me. I've been trying to stay busy and sewing up a storm. I'm working on Sherri's Water Lily quilt from her book, "A Quilting Life". I'm using Circa by Jennifer Paganelli. The fabric colors are amazing. I joked on Instagram about not being able to close the fabric cupboard door, so what do I do? I drop a quilt off for quilting at the quilt shop and come home with the adorable snow man quilt kit. Geez. That emotional roller coaster has me justifying all kinds of impulse fabric purchases. Fabric and flowers seem to be my weakness right now. As soon as one bouquet starts to wither I get another one. I think I'm trying to hold onto summer. Michigan winters are long and cold, dark and long, did I say long? I'm starting to unpack the upstairs more. I hung the medallion quilt above Maddie's bed and the kids canvas pictures in the hallway where they smile at me everyday. I better go, I'm rounding that bend again. Blessings!

Love that snowman kit... definitely a necessary purchase :)ReplyDelete
Empty nest isn't easy--it takes some time to find yourself again without the kids. Love the snowman kit (is there a pattern?), Circa is lovely, and your quilt (the medallion--can't remember the name) looks great! Flowers are a necessity--better than medicine for lifting the spirits--think of it as nurturing you! :)ReplyDelete
What book is the snowman pattern in?ReplyDelete
Oh, yes, I do understand. It gets better.ReplyDelete
The kid's pictures in the hallway --a good idea. Love that quilt on the wall. And the planned new quilt. A new start. A good idea , too.
Your Marcelle looks amazing! Love your WIP, too. I love the idea of hanging the canvas pictures of the kids. I must do something like that! My twins, my younger kids, just started college on Monday. Luckily for this year they are living at home, but they are chafing at the bit to go and fly. I'm happy for them, proud of the people they have become, but oh my gosh, I feel as if I blinked my eyes and the days of preschool trips and snuggly babies was just happening. Big hugs.ReplyDelete
Love the Snowy Day Quilt. Is it a pattern or in a book?ReplyDelete
Good morning Renee! I'm stopping by to catch up after vacation and to let you know you won my pillow giveaway! Send me your new address and confirm which pillow you want and I'll send it right out:>)ReplyDelete
I have to see your before and after post! I know the house is beautiful. As for the empty nest, you'll get through it, it's probably one of the hardest things about being a mom, at least it was for me. Nobody tells you how hard it is to let go and let those little birds fly, but they do come back and the love is still there. In the meantime, it's a time to spread your own wings and do some flying yourself! Wipe those tears and launch girlfriend, everything's gonna be ok:>) ♥
How beautiful! I love the floral fabric, but the snowman is my favourite and the fabrics you have chosen will look superb!! I really must start quilting it looks like such a rewarding hobbyReplyDelete
