A Peaceful Start

I woke up to rumbles of thunder and rain this morning.  I love opening my eyes to this kind of day. Rainy days beckon us to stay in, sit still and ponder life a bit.  If I had any energy I would clean like crazy but I've landed a cold and the couch sounds more appealing to me.  The painter started yesterday.  I have been telling my family for days now that once the walls are painted and we can hang our pictures and shelves and fill them with the familiar, that they will feel more settled.  The relief was almost audible when the painters walked in and I think even they were surprised at how thrilled we were to see them.  I happily made my coffee and took my sniffling self to the couch.  I read from my Bible, C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity" and Shauna Niequist's "Bread & Wine".  I'm not sure what the rest of today holds, but with a start like this, I'm prepared.  Have a blessed day!

Hugs,

  1. Good morning, Renee ... I too enjoy those rainy kind of mornings. Getting over illness myself, I have my cup of tea slightly sweetened with a bit of sugar, resting in my comfy chair, and reading a few blogs before I do some Bible study at the dining room table. Slow mornings can be such blessings. I understand about the painting needing done. My guest bedroom has been waiting for me to paint it for too long now and as soon as I'm well enough that's one of the first things on my to do list. Enjoy your day.

  2. A good morning to you Renee. I am sharing your rain and thoughtfulness this morning. I had the same thought myself earlier about how rainy days make one slow down and look inside. I'm sorry to hear you have a bit of the sniffles going on top of the adjustment to a new new home. Let me know when you are feeling a little settled and perhaps we can meet for hot cuppa soon. Remember, I only live a short distance away!

  3. I do love a rainy day. I hope the painters finish in record time and you can get more settled. I think you are right about feeling more at home once your house is arranged with everything familiar:>) Have a great day Renee!
