Sewing Room

I tried to get some good pictures of the sewing room but the sun was not cooperating with me.  I snapped a few anyway.  I also avoided the mad dash around the room to clean up.  It is what it is, as the saying goes!

This room is located off the kitchen and is separated from the dining room by french doors.  Actually, this used to be the dining room.  It's pretty small though, so after some room swapping it makes for a sunny (on a good day!) spot to sew.

I have some wonderful storage, thanks to my friend, Keith, who took vintage windows and built the cabinet around it.  For being on fabric lockdown, I still have much to use up!

I'm very happy for my own space to create.  Everyone should have a little spot of their own.  For me, that has sometimes been a corner of the family room and that's okay too, as long as you've got a place to dream.  Blessings!

With joy,

  1. I love your sewing room! And, the quilt on the wall is gorgeous! I have a magazine with that pattern and have never had the nerve to tackle it. Beautiful! I, too, have a corner in the (small) family room to sew and, yes, it is a place to dream. Thanks for sharing. :)

  2. I so agree...My craft room has been anything from a place at the dining table to my current space but the one thing they have all had in common was a place to dream. Your spot is beautiful. I love the windows and the view. Patty

  4. Your wall covering gives the illusion of the sun shining every day, I'm sure! Your use of white is so neat! I can really appreciate it even though it is the opposite of who I am and my place (which leans toward the darker, cozy clutter of a Midwest farm home. My kitchen, however, has the blue/white wallpaper of many years ago and still is a fave! My sewing area is on the 2nd floor and I'm forever grateful for that space allowing me to walk away and turn off the lights! Thanks for sharing

  6. Your sewing room is sew beautiful, it looks like you can still be part of the family with the connecting doors. and see outside as well. At the moment I have a small corner of our small bedroom(lol) poor hubby has to put up with all the threads but I do try to keep it tidy. And all my fabric is stored in one half of our wardrobe so his clothes have to share with mine!

  7. It's a beautiful sewing room! I really love how you have your sewing machine set up next to the window - and the bunting on the window! My sewing space is set up in the corner of our home office/guest room, so this room has 3 purposes. I would love to know how to decorate to make the room look better than an afterthought though. I seem to not have the decorating gene! LOL

Your white furniture is so precious! I am in the process of painting all mine, piece by piece. :o) What a difference it makes.

  15. You have a very pleasant place to sew and dream. I too have sewn anywhere I can set up a machine, but love having my own space. I love your whole house. It is so cozy and the white makes it so fresh and light, even when there is no sunshine. I love wallpaper too and think it has made a little of a comeback. Thanks for sharing your little corner of the world.

  22. Love your sewing room. I have sewn in a hallway, at the kitchen table, a desk in the living room but for many years I have been lucky enough to have a room of my own. Where did you get the cutting/work table in the middle of your room?

  23. Your home is adorable!! Full of lovely colors too...:)

I think it is great your sewing room is right off the kitchen. I bet you can sew and cook at the same time that way. I always use to put my sewing machine on the dining room table. But it was an open room and does get very messy. How convenient to have doors to close it when necessary!

Your Bible cover in your older post was SO pretty. I saw that pattern (or one something like it) years ago in a magazine. I might still have it somewhere?? Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!!

    Blessings for a happy weekend.
    xoxo...Gloria
