The Gardener's Morning

The Gardener's Morning
by Howard Dolf

The robin's song at daybreak is a clarion call to me.
Get up and get out in the garden,
for the morning hours flee.

I cannot resist the summons,
what earnest gardener could?
For the golden hours of morning
get into a gardener's blood.

The magic spell is upon me,
I'm glad that I did not wait;
For life's its best in the morning,
as you pass through the garden gate.

Have a blessed day~

  1. What a beautiful bush - what is it? My dad always loved early mornings in the garden with his cup of coffee...Have a blessed eay!

  2. Renee, you always fill my mornings with a peaceful contentedness. Thank you for the lovely things you share.

  3. Mine is in bloom too! I love the smell. It permeates the entire backyard. Isn't it fun to just sit by it and enjoy and let your mind wander.

  4. I just got a cutting from my mom. It is still in the pot as we are waiting to paint the house. The morning glory blooming through this in such a deep shade is magical. I take my coffee in the garden each morning with the dogs...smiles...Renee

  5. What type of bush is it??? It looks lovely.

  6. Your bush is just beautiful. Would love to know what it is and will it grow in this Texas heat. Love your poem.
