My New Friend

This is the view from my sewing room.  Icicles as thick as my arm.  The forecast is 10-15 inches of snow tonight.  My husband is home sick and there won't be any school tomorrow.  Dear Lord have mercy.  To keep me from going insane, a friend has come to play...

I could just sit and look at the picture on the box.  Maybe I'll hang it on the window to remind me that what's outside won't last forever (please don't last forever).  I love the illustration on the box and "Keeping the Word Sewing".  I have alot of learning to do, me and my new Sapphire, but I can't think of any better way to amuse myself during a blizzard.

I completed a gift for a special little one year old.  Don't you love self-striping yarn?  You just knit and knit and the pattern unfolds before your eyes.  What's the best thing to do during a blizzard?  Keep the news turned off and your fingers busy!

Blessings,

  1. Here in Chicago we don't have the ice yet but I'm getting ready.I pulled out a "project in waiting" to knit and also one for the sewing machine. It could turn out to be a great day!

  2. We were supposed to get up to 12 inches of snow or more, but it has sadly turned to all rain and ice. I am sorely disappointed and praying the electricity does not go out! Out here in the country, we lose water when we lose electric. Yikes!
    Enjoy your snow day!

  3. Brrr...This California girl can't even imagine what that must feel like. Although a couple of days trapped inside with a new sewing machine sounds wonderful. Take care.

  7. No school today here either. I'm bummed though because my photography class that started today was also cancelled! Argh! I hope your husband feels better soon. Just give him your new sewing machine book and some fabric to admire and that should help. Wait, no - that will help you. Give him a big hug and some soup.

  11. yay! A new sewing machine should help you forget the weather! I'm hoping the weatherman is exaggerating, but if he isn't I plan to celebrate my snow day(s) at my own sewig machine:>) Have fun Renee!

  12. Maybe we'll get lucky and that ground hog in Pennsylvania won't see his shadow tomorrow!
One thing you can say about snow at this time--at least you know you don't have the entire winter ahead of you! There is hope for the future!

I've actually knocked down icicles because I throw seeds and peanuts out to my yard animals and I'm afraid of a squirrel getting clocked on his furry little head.

Enjoy your machine. And I love self-striping yarn, too, although I'm more of a crocheter than a knitter. I love anything that makes my life easier. Although it would be worth the effort if I could make a vest like that!

  13. Holy smokes that is some icicle. I know you must be tired of the snow by now but there is something peaceful about your picture and the snow.

I WANT A NEW SEWING MACHINE! O.K. enough of my little tantrum. LOL. How exciting, a new sewing machine. Let us know how you like it. That is on my wishlist this year (among other things) but I want an industrial that is suited for the home. Still trying to nail down the exact one. I just need it to do straight stitching.
    Have a blessed week.

  16. I just found out that I will be home all day and I'm looking forward to a day of snowing. We have ice here. It is so beautiful to look at but not fun for anyone driving. Have a great day.
