In the Bag

I am loving the great response to the giveaway.  Thank you for all your wonderful comments.  There is still plenty of time to sign up, just scroll down to the post below.  I want to show you a bag I finished over the weekend.  It's the "Field Bag & Tote" by Amy Butler.

I must say, Amy Butler's patterns are a challenge.  There is so much interfacing and fusible this-or-that, that my needle started wobbling on several occassions.  I ended up having to use a denimn needle to do the top stitching around the bag.  It is a large bag with four interior pockets.  I added the covered buttons for a little pizazz.  I am pleased with the results, but also pleased to have it DONE!  What are you working on today?

Hugs,

  4. I have just finished and posted two patched cushions featuring Amy Butler fabric. Amy is definitely one of the flavours of the month around here, I love the quality of the fabric. You are very clever making that beautiful bag, I am not sure I could!

  5. A frustrating pattern takes the joy out of sewing, doesn't it. The bag looks wonderful, though.

  6. Beautiful work! Love that bag!
I believe I am going to tackle the project of redoing my family stockings for Christmas. I made ours MANY years ago, before most of our children were born. My sewing skills have improved since then (thankfully :) so I believe once I get to a point I can work, that will be my next project. :)

  7. Good Morning Renee.
Your purse turned out so beautiful!! Great job! :o)
Besides my laundry (job security!) and grading papers, I am working on sewing binding for Aunt Kathy's quilt, which the quilter will bring to me today!! Yippee! It is the largest one I have made to date. :o)
    Have a beautiful day, friend.
    Sincerely - Trish

  8. Beautifully hand crafted bag! It does indeed look like a challenging pattern. You pulled it off amazingly though, very gift lady you are!
Right now I am working on paintings that I haven't finished, not sure if any painting will be done today though.

  13. I've been wanting to try one of Amy's patterns but they do look a bit intimidating to me. Your bag turned out fabulously! I love the fabrics that you chose. Great work.
