Birthday Fun!

Yesterday my Bible study group celebrated our friend, Ruth's birthday.  As many of you can attest, there is nothing like the love, support and prayers of a group of women who take the time to study God's word each week.  Our group has been blessed with studying the word together for the past few years and we've been through a lot of happy and sad times together and have remained a constant encouragement for each other as we travel the paths that the Lord has for each of us.

I made Ruth this table runner for her special day.  I love using the scripture fabric and I have decided that I love making runners as gifts.  It obviously doesn't take as much time as a quilt and can be personalized for the recipient or for the season or event.   Most of us like decorating our tables and runners accomplish that.  I have gotten runner ideas from, Jody at Pleasant Home as well as Moda Bake Shop.  If you have a runner pattern that you enjoy making, I would love to know what it is.  I'd like to make a few and put them in my gift closet.  Hope you are having a fun Saturday!

Joyfully,

  1. You are so fortunate to have a group of friends to study the bible with and to pray with. As I have gotten older, I find, my Christian women friends and their support and prayers mean so much.
Your table runner is beautiful and I love the scripture fabric. Haven't seen that.
A gift closet...what a great idea. I would love to have a little stash of gifts, especially ones I had made.

  2. Love the table runner....not so sure of the gift closet....hard to part with lovely handmade gifts...lol!! Maybe you could make two of everything :) For a number of years, I had a lady order nine doilies every year - different pattern each year, but nine times over for family - her reasoning was no arguments when she died!! Happy crafting, Jenny

  9. The love and support of a group like that is truly a gift from the Lord. I miss mine, we met on Wednesdays before school, but two of my friends retired from teaching this year and it has been a loss for me!
I too, love runners! Not only are they an easy finish, they add great color to your room. Love the verse attached, too. Try a confetti or ticker tape one, they are great fun.

  12. I came across your blog at Gardener's cottage.
I love the runner, especially the Scroture on the end. I am trying my luck at a Bonnet Girl quilt. My Mom passed away last July and I found some of her things that no one wanted. In them were about 30 Bonnet Girls she had cut out. I am not a quilter but since I have started this I can't seem to stop. I am going to put a scripture and my name on the border.
    Thanks for the idea.
