A Short Break...

Tomorrow my youngest graduates from high school.  Yesterday she glued and glittered the top of her graduation cap.  As I type this I am surrounded by moving boxes, numerous piles awaiting sorting.  It's raining outside and my eyes are drawn to the overgrown weeds in the flower beds, will I have time to clear them before the movers come on Tuesday, I wonder.  The calendar this week is dotted with all kinds of appointments from the doctor to the dentist to the hair salon.  The goodbyes started yesterday and though I know that saying goodbye is a necessary part of transitioning forward, it sure is hard.  I've been hiding from it for months.  Yesterday I sat and finished hand quilting this quilt.  It's just what I needed, the gentle rhythm of hand stitching.  For me, the ebb and flow of life is doable with needle in hand.  I will be absent from blogging for the next week or so, as you can understand.  It won't be long though, promise.

Sweet blessings,

Simplicity

After the fun, yet time consuming piecing of the Marcelle Medallion, I am enjoying the simplicity of hand quilting a simple block quilt.  This will be the last quilt I complete before the move.  Once moved, I'm looking forward to finishing some very special quilts that are overdue to their recipients. It's a good thing I have understanding friends and family.  There is nothing like the rhythm of hand quilting to calm an anxious heart.   I'll be glad when this transition time is complete.  Blessings!

Marcelle Medallion Top Finished

Yesterday I had a marathon sewing session finishing the last two borders of the medallion quilt.  I am very pleased with the way it turned out.  I think Maddie will love it.  I hope that I can get it quilted before graduation.  It was very challenging, yet rewarding.  I'm so happy it's done!

From Vintage Grey

One of the fun things about moving into a new home is day dreaming about how to decorate it.  I've been doing a lot of that lately.  The last time I was there for the inspection I took a bunch of pictures so I could plan on how to begin to make it my own.  I have been pinning ideas and going through my own things with the plan of will this work or not.  The other day I was visiting Vintage Grey one of my favorite blogs and knew I wanted one of Heather's creations for my new kitchen.  The hardest part of shopping at Heather's store is deciding what to buy because I'd take all of it!  I settled on this beautiful tea towel in my favorite colors.  Heather's attention to detail is outstanding.  Look how beautifully it was wrapped!  It makes you feel special just opening the envelope to take out the package.  I didn't open it for a whole day so I could look at the packaging longer.  Everything about the tea towel is gorgeous but I have to say, I haven't seen such amazing crochet trim since my husbands Grandmother was alive.  Thank you, Heather for brightening my day with the beautiful work of your hands!

Balancing Act

I truly am my own worst enemy and the reasons for that are many.  Today I'll just stick to discussing my short attention span these days.  I know I should be packing - purging- purging - packing but I keep walking by that quilt.  It only needs two more borders and it needs to go to the quilter yesterday.  In the midst of selling some furniture a tennis ball was discovered and it was enough to keep me ineffective for way too long.  It belonged to dear, sweet Max who used to shove them under my dresser and then try to dig them out, which he couldn't do.  I spent countless times on my hands and knees looking for his ball.  It was a bittersweet find, how I miss that dog!  Is it possible to get some kind of parental controls that keeps me off of pinterest?  Something that only my husband can remove? Seriously, what's with all the pretty spring pins?  I.need.to.pack. Oh, and that's a stack of bills by the computer that need to be paid.  Geesh...
