Photo of Friendship Farm ~ Last Summer

Two very fun things have happened, one is that Sewn With Grace has become a .com replacing my account.  I'm working on some fun things and this just seemed like the next step in my journey.  It was a simple process, but being technically challenged, I managed to delete my blogroll in the process.  I am slowly rebuilding that list and if you don't see your blog there as usual, it's just because I'm still recovering the names.  To become a .com yourself, check out this post.  While your're at Clover and Violet take a look around, it's a great blog!  Please take a moment to rename my blog on your bloglists.  Over the next three days blogger should redirect you to the new name, but you can make the change on your own beforehand.

The other fun news is that tomorrow there is a wedding photo shoot out at the farm.   It's suppose to be cold here but I'm praying for sunshine.  After church I will be heading out, with stacks of vintage dishes, for some fun.  I will let you know how that goes on Tuesday after we have our fourth "Sewing Christmas" on Monday.  Have a great day today!

May Flowers

Have you ever had so many projects you needed to complete that you just froze and didn't do anything for awhile?  That's how I have been lately.  Instead of sewing I have been reading alot and knitting.  I do this to myself every time I take on orders or need to make gifts.  Buying "Cherry Fizz" was the motivation I needed to get moving.  I won't cut into it until I get the five (yes you read that right) quilts I have to complete in the next seven weeks.

Time to get the motor running, literally.  First one to tackle is a graduation gift for a sweet friend of my daughter's.  This is not a hard quilt and making the flowers is quite addicting.  How each flower comes out is a surprise.

The pattern is called "May Flowers" and comes from the jelly roll book shown below.  I used scraps of fabrics that I have made two other quilts with.  This quilt is really a stash buster and if you are looking to reduce your stash or scrap basket, this is the one for you!

I find that the example quilt has too much cream for me so I will be using a color for the flower blocks and a patterned fabric for the borders.  The good thing about this quilt is that I will only have to purchase batting. Yea!  I love it when that happens!

Cherry Fizz

Cherry Fizz by Barbara Jones of Quilt Soup

Something comes over me when I walk into a fabric shop.  I refer to it as a spiritual experience because, for me, that's what it closely resembles.  I do believe God has given me a gift of working with my hands and when they come in contact with fabric it feels like I'm at home.  I also believe that God expects me to use my money wisely and I have been on fabric lockdown for quite some time, only purchasing what is necessary to complete a project (with some extra's along the way - who are we kidding here!)  Yesterday I went to the fabric shop to get backing fabric for my log cabin quilt when I spotted these beauties right inside the door, then the dance began as well as the running commentary in my head.  "Keep walking to the backing fabric, don't look in that direction, stop running quilt patterns through your head, no it does not look like Cherry Limeade from Sonic, those are not "your" colors, don't touch it, don't pick it up."  I did very well until the kind lady behind the counter was cutting my backing fabric, then I made a mad dash for the bolts.  I justified my purchase by not buying all the colorways (why didn't I buy all the colorways?!).  What I love about a fabric shop is all the ladies that help you justify your purchases.  So I did it.  But oh, it does look like Cherry Limeade from Sonic!

Rose Napkins

When I was visiting my brother I walked by this display in one of the little shops near his town.  I took this picture thinking that this napkin arrangement would be great for Easter or Mother's Day.  When I got home I had an email from The Cottage Journal with this link showing how to make it.  Now we can all have flowers on our tables.  Enjoy!

Little Blessings

I love going to Cracker Barrel for unusual finds.  During my trip I stopped at one in Tennessee.  These adorable garden markers found their way into the car.

After meeting with a bride last night, my boss and friend Nancy, gave me this wonderful little pillow.  It reads, "In my heart I have been blessed by you."  Such loving words and I share them with all of you today.  Blessings!

is filled with good things
as surely as the work of his

Friday Pretties

Last week when I signed off for spring break I got in the car with my daughter and we drove 13 hours to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my brother and his family.   I have not been to their home since they moved there and was well overdue for a trip.  One of our days together we went to the neighboring town of Senoia.

Senoia is a charming little town filled with fun shops and antique stores.  I was so thrilled to be in sunshine and to see flowers blooming.  I snapped these pictures as we walked along the street.

It was wonderful not to have a schedule, to just enjoy being with family and to take in all the blessings of our time together.

I fell in love with this potting table made from salvaged pieces of various items, but alas had no way to get it home.  Maybe I can build my own.

This quaint town has been home to many a movie set and I snapped a couple of pictures of two of my favorite movies that were filmed there.

The houses were charming and I even saw a pink one.  It would be so easy to pack up and move there.

It was worth the 26 hour round trip to see my sweet niece, Gracie as she hangs on to my brother's ears to keep from falling.  Blessings!

Daughter Time

Picture of the garden last July

Today starts my daughter's spring break.
I am taking a few days off from blogging
to devote myself totally to her.
Be back later next week.

Fabric Eggs

While I was out visiting blogs, I came across this tutorial on Retro Mama for fabric eggs.  Aren't they adorable?  Think of all the eggs that you could make from scraps!  Maybe I should look for a fabric chicken as well?  Enjoy!

Pretty Ruffles~

Whenever I put a different vintage dress on my dress form I always try to imagine the person that owned it and what type of event they wore it to.  This one says wedding to me, or Easter, or a spring dance.

I wish that they still made dresses like this.  I do miss all the femininity of years past.  When I see my teenage daughter pull on her sweatshirt and jeans and head off to school, I remember the dress code I had at my highschool and think perhaps it wasn't so bad afterall.  Blessings!

Sunday Scripture

"No one is like you, O Lord;
you are great,
and your name is mighty in power.
Who should not revere you,
O King of the nations?
This is your due.
Among all the wise men of the nations
and in all their kingdoms,
there is no one like you."

Jeremiah 10:6&7

Baby Love

One more cutie patootie owlie sack done done as a custom order for a dear friend to give as a gift.  Oh, I love knitting this.  I used the most scrumptous baby alpacha yarn and sweet embroidery for the faces.  I loved how it turned out.  The pattern can be found here.

Sweet blessings,
